A Guide to the Best Places to Run in Palma and Other Spots in Mallorca

Lana Bukvic

Palma is the capital of Mallorca and the island’s most visited city. As part of Mallorca running guide, there are several wonderful places to run in Palma. The highlight of running in Palma de Mallorca is the Paseo Maritimo, offering 9 km of seaside running. We’ve also designed routes featuring promenades along wide, tree-lined avenues and canals, a ‘runseeing’ tour of the historic old town, and a loop around the Bellver castle. See also our running guide for Mallorca, which features several great places to run throughout the island.

In Palma, there’s a good bus system and a new metro/light rail system. Elsewhere on Mallorca there are buses, but a car is very helpful to get around the countryside.

Mallorca has a pleasant Mediterranean climate, with 300 sunny days a year. Winters are mild and a bit wet, while summers are hot and dry. Temperatures are cooler and precipitation more frequent in the Tramuntana mountains. In winter, average high temperatures are 15C (60F), with lows dipping to 8C (mid-40s). Runners should use caution in summer, given near constant sun and temperatures that typically climb to 30C (86F) or higher, with nights staying warm.

Mallorca is a major visitor destination. In searching for a place to stay near good running, we recommend spots near some of our favorite seaside runs in Palma, Palma Nova, Port de Pollença, and Port d’Alcúdia.

RUNNING STORES

There are numerous stores and factory outlets with running gear in the Palma area. There’s also a store in Port de Pollença and Manacor. See the overview map for locations.
