South Bend is a pleasant city on the St. Joseph River. It’s home to the University of Notre Dame. There’s some nice running in South Bend, mainly focused on the excellent network of riverfront trails. We’ve also included routes in nearby Goshen & Elkhart.

The best place to run in South Bend is to choose a section of the 9 miles of trails along the St. Joseph River. We also love running around the University of Notre Dame campus, which features lovely pedestrian paths & two lake loops. There’s something for every runner at Potato Creek State Park. In Goshen, there are numerous multi-use trails, the Milltrace Canal being our favorite. There’s also some nice running along the Elkhart River in Elkhart.
