St. Joseph River Loop in Central South Bend

As a standalone run or complement to our other St. Joseph River route, we’ve put together this lovely 4.4 mile loop in South Bend’s downtown area, focused on paths along both banks of the St. Joseph River. There are several parks and some nice river views. A great bet if you’re staying downtown!

Starting at Lasalle Ave., follow the paved path south along the west bank of the river for ~1 mile, passing through Pier Park, Island Park, & Plaza Park. Run to the end at Edgewater Dr., doubling back to cross the pedestrian bridge to the east side. Run north on the E-Bank Trail, with side jaunts to the Univ. of Notre Dame boathouse and River Lights Plaza. At North Shore Dr., LEFT, for a final short section along N Michigan St. and then the riverside path to the start.
