New Orleans, LA

Central City Garden District Route

Start this beautiful, scenic route by heading down St. Charles Ave from Lee Circle. Home to the St. Charles streetcar line, trolley Cars run down the middle of the shady avenue, and past some of New Orleans oldest, most elegant homes. Famous for dozens of mansions that adorn the tree-lined boulevard for much of the uptown section, this route will give you a feel for some of New Orleans most historic features. Various Southern live oak trees, plentiful in the historic Garden District, were planted during the early twentieth century. Becoming one of the city’s most memorable features, similar additions were made on other major New Orleans streets, such as Napoleon Avenue. Today, St. Charles Avenue has become one of the chief Mardi Gras parade routes!
