This is a lovely run in New Orleans’ historic Garden District, home to the St. Charles streetcar line, elegant homes, and a shady canopy of live oaks. The anchor of the area is St. Charles Avenue, where you’ll run alongside the trolley cars. St. Charles is also one of the chief Mardi Gras parade routes!  The neighborhood south of St. Charles has some pretty streets and homes. Pro tip: Beautifully holiday lights in season. First St./Second St./Pleasant St.

Our route starts at Lee Circle, home to the WW2 Museum. Run along St. Charles Ave. for 2.2 miles to Napoleon Ave. Here, our turn LEFT and then LEFT again on Prytania St., (see Anne Rice’s house!), a quieter street through a lovely neighborhood, for the return. This is a 5-mile run.  Option: A pleasant pedestrian path runs north-south along the median of Napoleon Ave., for ~1 mile between Freret St. & Constance St.

Longer Option: Continue west on St. Charles St. (or other pretty residential streets in the area to to Audubon Park — one of the most popular places to run in New Orleans. Can also add on by exploring more of the pretty streets south of St. Charles (see the map below).
