Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Waterfront & More

There’s some nice running in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, a seaside town located 16 miles northeast of Newcastle upon Tyne. We’ve put together a 10k route that combines the seaside promenade with a multi-use path that extends west to Queen Elizabeth II Country Park.

Start in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, on the lovely seafront promenade which extends south for ~1.5 miles from the Maritime Center, along Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Beach. The ~1 mile long beach is also runnable. Do that path, then retrace your steps for 1 mile. Get off the path at Windsor Rd., crossing Front St. to the gravel path that extends west for 1 mile, paralleling Central Pkwy. You can continue another 0.5 miles to the end, or cross over the train tracks at the roundabout to access Queen Elizabeth II Country Park. Continue in the park for more, or retrace your steps to complete the route.

Add-Ons: Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, there are paths along a small lake, some nice open grassland, and some woodland paths.
