Murdock Canal Trail

Creative Commons: Bworth227

The Murdock Canal Trail is another great opportunity for a scenic off-road run in the Provo-Orem area. The paved multi-use path travels for 18 miles between Orem (just north of Provo) and Lehi. There are views of the mountains and occasional glimpses of Utah Lake. The trail was opened in 2013 and follows a now enclosed canal bed.

There are 7 trailheads and numerous other access points. The eastern end in Orem/Provo connects to the Provo River Parkway Trail, at the base of Provo Canyon. The trail is fairly flat for this area. There are markers every 1/4 mile. Note the westernmost 4 miles aren’t the most scenic, as the trail follows a very busy road.
