Enjoy running on the paths and fields of King’s Meadow & Christchurch Meadows — two large green spaces on either side of the Thames in central Reading. There are woodlands, towpaths, fields, and other recreational facilities.

A good place to start is in central Reading at Fosbury Gardens. Do a 1/2 mile loop around the pleasant garden paths, and then cross the Reading Bridge to Christchurch Meadows. It’s 0.5 miles to the northern end at Westfield Park. Double back, then turn RIGHT, heading west for 1/2 mile along the Reading River Promenade to Piper’s Island. Retrace your steps, crossing back over the bridge to King’s Meadows, doing a loop there.
Add-Ons: Additional paths along the River Thames extend from Reading Bridge east or west.

There's pleasant running along the River Kennet, which flows into the Thames in Reading. There's a waterside path from Reading south for 3 miles, with additional options in the Fobney Island area.
A 4.6 mile running loop in the Fobney Island area, combining paths along the River Kennet and Fobney Island Nature Preserve. Nice views of the river & the area's locks, lakes & lagoons.

A quick drive or train ride from Reading, enjoy extensive trails & footpaths around green commons, grassy meadows, woodlands, historic estates, parks, & riverside paths.
Excellent running options in this 3,000-acre National Forest located 13 miles southeast of Reading. Forested paths of varying levels of terrain & difficulty, and some more open terrain toward Hut Hill.
