A nice, straightforward run around a lake in the otherwise hilly canyons east of San Diego. Located in the Scripps Ranch Area, Miramar Reservoir features a paved service road offering a loop of 4.9 miles around the lake. It’s a nice, quiet spot without too many cars. The area is popular for walking, running, bicycling, and blading. An unpaved trail runs closer to the water but it’s narrower.
For small add-ons, there are trail spurs to Miramar Overlook Park at the northern end of the reservoir, and Lake View Park at the eastern end of the reservoir.
