Explore the city’s modern evolution with this 6 km (3.8 mile) route through the European Quarter of northwest Strasbourg. It starts out in the Place de la Republique, where the Palais du Rhin sits between Poincare and Contades. After a loop around the grounds, follow Rue de Marechal-Joffre towards Quai Koch, take a left, and cross over the canal on Rue Terrene. Then, follow the canal north on Quai Zorn. When you reach Boulevard Ohmacht, take a right toward Canal III and continue north on Quai Mullenheim. This will bring you all the way to the European Parliament, where you can run around it’s fascinating colosseum and gleaming glass windows. Cross the canal again on Rue Lucien Febvre and head southeast towards Parc de l’Orangerie. You can run through the park for more mileage, then head back on Quai du Bassin de I’ll and Quai Mullenheim. Architectural highlights along the way include the European Court of Human Rights, the Council of Europe, and the Agora.
