Parc de la Citadelle

The scenic green space surrounding Strasbourg’s historic citadel is not the longest run in the city, but it’s a good quick option from the University or the Esplanade neighborhood. This former fortress and its lovely gardens can be accessed from the Rue de Boston, just southeast of the University. For a quick run, we recommend one loop around the outer edge of the park combined with one loop around the moat surrounding the citadel. This is only about 1.5 miles, so if you’d like to do more, we recommend tacking on part of the Orangerie route, or heading west along the Canal du Rhone au Rhin towards Parc du Heyritz. The Krutenau neighborhood, just west of Citadelle Park, is a gem of Old World architecture combines with trendy shops, eateries, and galleries.
