Bodrum: Castle & Waterfront

Ad Meskens / Wikimedia Commons

Located on the Bodrum Peninsula stretching from Turkey’s southwest coast into the Aegean Sea, Bodrum features twin bays with views of the medieval Bodrum Castle. There’s not a seamless waterfront sort of run in Bodrum. Rather, the best running option in Bodrum is to stitch together a route that explores the Castle area, the marina, and some short waterfront sections. In all, this could be a ~10 km run.

Start at the Castle area and explore the roads and paths around the peninsula (~1 km). Then, continue west on the path along the marina, then on the main road Osman Nuri Bilgin Cd. for ~1 km. Then you’ll take a jaunt down to the Bodrum değirmen (Castle). Continue west along the main road to Gümbet Beach (Sahil), where there’s a sandy path along the beach for nearly 1 km, with lots of shops & restaurants.

Note: Beaches fairly narrow and not great for running.
