The signature run in Windsor is the riverfront path on the the south bank of the Detroit River. It runs for 5 km between the Ambassador Bridge and the Joan and Cliff Hatch Wildflower Garden to the east, passing the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel at the 3 km mark. In addition to a great view of the Detroit skyline across the river, there are parks and sites along the whole way. From west to east — Windsor Sculpture Park, Steamboat Wharf,Dieppe Gardens (commemorating D-Day), Festival Plaza, and Great Western Park. A nice 1 km add-on is to run on the path south through the International Gardens, accessed in Centennial Park.
Longer Run: Continue east of the Wildflower Garden for another 3.5 km to the Peace Fountain in Coventry Gardens. There are a couple sections along Riverside Dr. where there aren’t water views, but there are nice paths through Alexander Park, Goose Bay Park, and Reaume Park.
There’s also a centrally located running store, The Running Factory, about 2.5 miles east of the eastern terminus of the Riverfront Trail.
Note: If coming from Detroit, a passport is needed to get into Canada and there can be queues at the border. It is not possible to walk across the Ambassador Bridge.

In the East Riverside area, a pleasant, longer run through Little River Corridor Park, East Riverside Park, and the Ganatchio Trail along East Riverside Dr. Paths almost the whole way. Mix of wooded trails and waterside paths.
The 175-acre Malden Park has some nice trails and a 100 foot hill climb. Can be combined with Ojibway Woods, 1.5 km away, which has 3 km of wooded trails. Other parks and trails in the area provide opportunities for longer loops.
A good option for a long, off-road run in west Windsor. This relatively new trail runs parallel to the Herb Gray Parkway/Canada 401 for 8 km from Malden Park to just past Howard Ave. and can be combined with our Malden Park/Ojibway Woods route.
Run in a gorgeous national park at the southernmost point of the Canadian mainland! About an hour from Windsor, the Park juts out into Lake Erie and has several km of woodland, marsh, & beach trails. Also some runnable cycle trails.
