About 5 northeast of Strasbourg, there are lovely paths behind the Château de Pourtalès, a gorgeous 18th-century mansion made famous by Countess Mélanie de Pourtalès, a close friend of Emperor Napoleon III. A run around the woodsy paths and shady lawns of the Parc de Pourtalès is a treat. A loop around is about 1.5 miles, but you can easily get up to 3 miles exploring the park’s cross paths.
