A developing rail trail in Helena, a bit southwest of the city center, the Hillsboro Trail offers about 2 miles (one way) of running on a smooth asphalt surface through tunnels, bridges, and parks. In the south, the trail starts at the Helena Middle School and continues northeast to Appleford Road near Buck Creek. Plans are in progress to expand the path, but for now it’s a great opportunity for an up to 4 mile out and back.
