As of April 2026, there’s a significant improvement to the New Orleans running scene! Woldenberg Park has been extensively renovated, and now includes a new connection to Crescent Park, making for a lovely 2.3 mile riverfront path along the Mississippi. This waterfront route is near the Convention Center and the French Quarter, allowing for some good add-on opportunities.

Start at the Goldring Woldenberg Riverfront Park, location of the Audubon Aquarium. This renovated (2026) green space stretching between the Mississippi River and the historic French Quarter features a 90-foot linear water feature in front of the Aquarium, an open-air covered venue dubbed the NOLA Front Porch. and lovely landscaping. There’s a wide jogging path, with great views of the Mississippi River.

Continue northeast through the park, through Washington Artillery Park, with views to historic Jackson Square and the French Quarter. There’s a new connection along the river at Governor Nicholls Street Wharf, connecting to Crescent Park. This lovely park, built as part of New Orleans’ post-Katrina revitalization efforts, has outdoor sculptures and great views of the river & New Orleans skyline.

Add-Ons: Enjoy some of the scenic, historic streets of the French Quarter, just inland from Woldenberg Park. You can also make your way to Louis Armstrong Park, and for an ambitious run, take the Lafitte Greenway to City Park. See our ‘Great New Orleans Run’.
