Long Beach, CA

Long Beach Downtown & Marina Highlights

Wikimedia Commons

This 5-mile run offers a very pleasant route around downtown Long Beach, and includes a couple of nice parks, a lagoon, and a loop around the marina. It’s a great option if you’re staying near downtown or the Convention Center.

Start at the Hyatt Hotel, near the Convention Center, and do the 0.8 mile loop around the paths of Rainbow Lagoon Park. Then, use the multi-use path, the Convention Center Walkway, heading east, crossing Ocean Blvd., to Promenade Square. This is a nice section through a car-free zone lined with shops and restaurants. Next, take a LEFT along one of the downtown side streets (6th St., 7th St., not beautiful) for 0.7 miles to Shoreline Dr., where you have the option of running through Cesar Chavez Park or the bike path along the Los Angeles River, for 1 mile to the Aquarium/Marina area, where you’ll finish the route with a pleasant 1 mile loop around Shoreline Aquatic Park.

Essentials
  • 5.3 mile (8.5 km) loop
  • 165feet (50m)
  • Hyatt Hotel/Convention Center/Rainbow Lagoon Park
  • Ample parking and numerous access points.
