California State University at Bakersfield is a popular location for local races, but runners can enjoy the routes here at any time. There is a great selection of pedestrian paths and nice sidewalks to choose from. The suggested 5k route uses Student Way, CSUB Way, Don Hart Drive, Kroll Way, the canal path, Camino Media, and Roadrunner Way to form a nice multi-terrain loop around campus. For even more variation, runners can hop onto the ~1 mile extension of the Kern River Parkway Trail that runs through campus. Connect to the main Kern River Parkway Trail of the nearby Stockdale Neighborhood for more mileage.
