Bur-Mil Park, located in the northern part of Greensboro, is one of the better destinations in the area for a run. The 250-acre park is a popular recreation spot, with mountain bike trails, an aquatic center, and a golf course. For running, there’s a good variety. Trail runners will love the several miles of mainly wooded hiking/biking trails, which are fairly narrow and have more uneven footing. Most popular is the 2-mile Big Loop Trail, around the park. More ambitious is the Owl’s Roost Trail, which extends for 4.3 miles from the Wildlife Education Center along the shore of Lake Brandt to the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway.
The Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway also runs through the park. The nearly 6-mile paved multi-use path is gorgeous for running, running from SR 220 south through Bur-Mil Park, with several bridges and boardwalks over Lake Brandt. See our route there.

This 10k 'runseeing' tour is a great taste of Greensboro's highlights: downtown, several parks and greenways, several historic neighborhoods, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro campus. Good options to modify and add-on.
A delightful run around several historic neighborhoods north of downtown: Fisher Park, Latham Park, & Old Irving Park. Tree-lined streets, sidewalks, and gracious older homes.
Just west of downtown, this lovely run includes Lindley Park, the Greensboro Arboretum, Hamilton Lakes Park, and attractive neighborhood streets. Can combine or mix & march with our central Greensboro run.
The Battlegrounds Park District includes Guilford Courthouse National Military Park & Greensboro Country Park. Combine the 2.5 Military Park Loop Rd. with the roads and paths through woods and around a lake in Country Park for a pretty and historic run!
One of our favorite places in the Greensboro area for a run. The 6-mile paved multi-use path features several bridges and boardwalks passing over the Lake Brandt, as it passes through Bur-Mil Park, Military Park, and Greensboro Country Park.
Multi-use trail that runs for several miles in the Greensboro and High Point areas. It's a good off-road running opportunity, passing mainly through wooded terrain. We've mapped northern & southern sections, with numerous connections to other trails.
Terrific running options in this 376-acre nature preserve located in High Point. There are 6 miles of 'trail running' trails and a 2.6 mile section of the paved Bicentennial Greenway. Combination of woods, fields, section along High Point Lake.
