Battlegrounds Park District

Google Street View

One of our favorite places to run in Greensboro is in the Battlegrounds Park District, which includes Guilford Courthouse National Military Park & Greensboro Country Park, located five miles north of town. The Guilford Courthouse National Military Park commemorates the 1781 Battle of Guilford Courthouse. A fabulous way to experience the park is to run the 2.5 mile park loop road. There are numerous sites and trails that come off the road as well. We also recommend Historic New Garden Rd., which is an auto-free gravel path that runs for 1 mile east-west through the park, connecting to the park loop road.

You can also combine a route with adjacent Country Park. The 2-mile loop of Calvin Wiley Dr. and Nathanel Green Dr. is pleasant for running, with wooded terrain and a lake. Note: Road closed to cars after 4pm weekdays and all weekend. There are also 2-3 miles of nature trails at the western end of Country Park, just east of Forest Lawn Dr. The 6-mile Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway passes through the western end of Military Park. The Greensboro Science Center is located at the park, and there are tennis courts and other recreational facilities.
