Bur-Mil Park

Bur-Mil Park, located in the northern part of Greensboro, is one of the better destinations in the area for a run. The 250-acre park is a popular recreation spot, with mountain bike trails, an aquatic center, and a golf course. For running, there’s a good variety. Trail runners will love the several miles of mainly wooded hiking/biking trails, which are fairly narrow and have more uneven footing. Most popular is the 2-mile Big Loop Trail, around the park. More ambitious is the Owl’s Roost Trail, which extends for 4.3 miles from the Wildlife Education Center along the shore of Lake Brandt to the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway.

The Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway also runs through the park. The nearly 6-mile paved multi-use path is gorgeous for running, running from SR 220 south through Bur-Mil Park, with several bridges and boardwalks over Lake Brandt. See our route there.
