Visitors to Annecy will find great long-distance running on the Voie Verte, a rail trail that connects Annecy to Ugine, a village southeast of Lac d’Annecy. The paved 35 km path begins as the Quai de la Tournette in Annecy and heads south along the west side of the lake. The path is along the water featuring great lake views for the first 5 km. Near Saint Jorioz, the path bends inland, rejoining the waterfront near Duingt. At the 10k mark near Doussard, the path continues southeast away from the lake to arrive at Ugine. Here, it culminates at the Parc des Berges De La Chaise Plan D’eau, a scenic loop around the Chaise river.
