The Little Blue Trace Trail runs through the east end of Kansas City and Independence, following the Little Blue River. It’s a mix of paved and dirt surfaced, 15.5 mile flat pathway with a nice combination of suburban and rural scenery.

The trail currently starts at Blue Mills Road and extends 15.5 miles south to Phelps Road in Kansas City. There are numerous additional trailheads.  There are plans to extend the trail to Longview Lake, which would make the overall distance 26 miles. 

Another favorite route outside of Kansas City is the Prairie Creek Greenway, located near the airport in Carroll. This asphalt pathway  forms a loop rather than a straight one-way. The prettiest part is 1.5 miles through the Prairie Creek Greenway park space. There are seven pedestrian bridge crossings and connections to many of the local neighborhoods. TRAIL INFORMATION.
