Lacamas Lake & Lacamas Park Trails

Wikimedia Commons

The Lacamas Lake & Lacamas Park area, located 20 minutes east of Vancouver in Camas, is a worth-it destination run. There are 12 miles of trails between the Heritage Trail along Lacamas Lake and the trails around Round Lake and Lacamas Park. And there’s something for everyone: from easier multi-use paths to some hillier, more rugged trail running options. The trails of the two areas can be mixed & matched in various ways. Our thanks to David Caldwell for recommending this route.

Lacamas Heritage Trail. One of the highlights of running is the Lacamas Heritage Trail, a gravel multi-use path that runs for 3.5 miles from one end of Lacamas Lake to the other. There’s lush foliage, views to the water, waterfalls, and rock formations. Parking and facilities at either end.

Lacamas Park Trails. There are 6 miles of trails here. The loop around Round Lake (1.1- to 1.4 miles, or 2.5 miles from end-to-end) is popular. There are also some more rugged, wooded trails shared with mountain bikers. The area is also well-known for the April blooming of Camas Lilies. There’s parking at Round Lake.

Note: There’s a terrific road race, Lake to Bay, held here in July. Here’s the route.
