Located only 5 miles northeast of downtown, Great Bear Ski Valley is a great spot for a destination trail run. And, it’s one of the few spots in Sioux Falls to run some hills! The 220-acre park is a popular spot for downhill and nordic skiing in winter. In summer, there are 4 miles of trails winding through the hills and valleys of the park, offering spectacular views of Sioux Falls as well as secluded Burr Oak canopied creek bottoms.
The trails are a mix — there’s an easier, paved walking trail, more challenging trails up the ‘mountain’, and narrower, more primitive deer trails.
Note: Trails are free. They might not be available for running during ski season
