Newport’s beaches can be good for running! They are wide and feature fairly firm sand near the water, dependent on tides of course. Newport has three main beaches that are accessible to the public: Easton’s Beach (First Beach), Second Beach, and Third Beach.

Easton’s Beach (First Beach). Closest to downtown, off Memorial Blvd. Also the start of the Cliff Walk. The beach is 0.5 mile long. Also nice running along the beach on Memorial Blvd., with great views. PRO TIP: Location of 50,000+ daffodils each April across the beach on Memorial Blvd.

Second Beach. Located 1 mile east of Easton Beach, this popular beach is 0.7 miles long. A bit narrow in spots, might not be great for running on a crowded day.

Third Beach. Just east of Second Beach, Third Beach is 0.7 miles long. Can be a bit pebbly, but sand firm.

Combination Run: Second Beach and Third Beach can be easily combined. They’re 0.3 miles from each other, using the short road that comes off Sachuest Point Rd. Another nice option is to combine Second and Third Beaches with our Sachuest National Wildlife Refuge route. It’s 0.6 miles from the east end of Second Beach, using Sachuest Point Rd. The gorgeous loop trail at Sachuest NWR is 2.5 miles.
