A few miles southwest of Coventry, the Kenilworth Greenway offers a nice opportunity for an easy, flat off-road run. The firm-surfaced multi-use trail runs for 5 miles between Berkswell and Kenilworth. The landscape is fairly open and pastoral, passing by numerous fields and farms.
There are two ways to access the Greenway. For a longer route, pick it up off Station Rd. near the Berkswell Train Station. Head south, on either the main greenway or the ‘Kenilworth Greenway Diversion”, for ~2 miles to Burton Green. Continue on the Greenway past Burton Green Village Hall. It’s an area of fields and farms, passing south through Crackley Woods Nature Reserve to the scenic Kenilworth Common, where there are some additional paths. The trail ends at Forge Rd. at Finham Brook.
Add-On: There’s a footpath headed west along Finham Brook, to the Abbey Fields — a lovely network of paths around the Remains of St Mary’s Abbey and a lake. At the west end, across Castle Rd. is Leicester’s Gatehouse castle & Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden.
