Aalborg Waterfront Run

Google Street View

Among the highlights of running in Aalborg are the 7-8 km of waterfront paths along Limfjord Sound. We’ve put together a route that can be used as a guideline to create a route of your chosen distance. This also includes a section across the water in Lindhom, reached by the pedestrian-friendly Kulturbro or Limfjordsbroen bridges.

A good place to start is the Utzon Center, on Aalberg’s central waterfront. A waterfront path winds around the harbour for 1.7 km east. Then, headed west, you can run along a series of paths/promenades for ~3 km as far as Vestre Fjordpark and the ferry to Egholm. This includes a 1 km section through the lovely Fjordmarken Park.

To make this a loop, you can cross Kulturbro Bridge over to Lindholm Fjordpark. There, you can run on a path headed west along the water and then the small river to the Canoe and Kayak Club at the highway. Double back, running east along the water for 1 km between the Kulturbro and Limfjordsbroen bridges, crossing the Limfjordsbroen Bridge to end the route.

Add-Ons: Take the ferry to Egholm Island! Runs about every 1/2 hour and takes 5 minutes. Once on Egholm, there’s a lovely 8 km route on lovely gravel roads along the water and past farm fields, and literally no cars!

Essentials
  • Full waterfront run is up to 16 km (9.9 miles) -- choose a section!
  • Fairly flat
  • Utzon Center, central waterfront. Or, other preferred start point
