The Biltmore Estate is a grand 250 room chateau in southern Asheville, surrounded by peaceful gardens and grounds designed by the renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The 8,000-acre estate is a treat for running, with 75+ acres of formal and informal gardens and 20+ miles of hiking, biking, and walking trails passing gardens, along the French Broad River and surrounding forests. It’s a living masterpiece of landscape design.

There’s a wonderful variety of landscape & scenery on the trails. The paved, 3-mile  Lagoon Trail offers some of the best estate & farmland scenery. The best option for a longer, seamless run is the Farm Trail along the French Broad River. The easy gravel/dirt road trail is 3 miles (one-way). Add to the Farm Trail with the 2.5 mile Arbor Trace Trail at the north end (woods & farmland), or the 3.5 mile Deer Park Trail at the southern end. For a wooded, rolling hill trail, check out the Westover Trails.

Notes: Running is not allowed on the paved roads of the estate grounds. Also, set hours and VERY STEEP admission fee required.
