If you’re looking for a run near Berlin Brandenburg Airport, there’s a decent 5k run incorporating three small parks and a path along the former Berlin Wall. Brandenburg Airport, located in Schönefeld in southeastern Berlin, is now Berlin’s main international airport, replacing the Berlin Schönefeld Airport. It was opened in 2020 after nearly ten years of delay.
Start at Südpark, which is on the north side of the airport near the hotels along Hans-Grade Allee. There’s a path through the park that runs along the former Berlin Wall. Cross Waltersdorfer Str. into Landschaftspark Rudow-Altglienicke, where you’ll do a ~2k loop on nice paths between meadows and ponds. At the north end, turn LEFT, crossing Am Klarpfuhl into Nordpark, a narrow park with a pleasant green path that runs for 1 km through it. Complete the loop using the cycle path along Schönefelder Str. into Südpark.
Add-Ons: For a longer run, Schönefelder Str. is OK for running, with a good sidewalk. It’s a 1.5 straight shot toward Rudow, where there’s a U-Bahn station. Come back along Waßmannsdorfer Str. There are also some quieter residential streets off Schönefelder Str.
STAY: Hotels closest to this run are north of the airport, off Hans-Grade Allee, near Südpark.
