This loop around Hull is among our favorite runs on Boston’s south shore. It features mainly waterfront roads on the east & west sides of the peninsula from Allerton to Pemberton Point, with great views of Massachusetts Bay, Hull Bay, the Boston Harbor Islands, and the Boston skyline! The full loop is 5.3 miles and includes a couple of [optional] steep, hilly sections. Pro Tip: This can be a destination run from Boston. A ferry runs from Long Wharf to Hull (1/2 hr ride, $5).
Start at Allerton Harbor, near the north end of Nantasket Beach. Run for 2.3 miles along the west side of the peninsula to the end at Pemberton Point. The route uses Fitzpatrick Way/Nantasket Ave./Spring St., and then a short, steep 80 foot climb on Highland Ave, and then Main St. There are great views.
Return along the east side. Use Channel St./Main St./Spring St. for 1.2 miles, and then Harborview Rd.(short climb) for a scenic view of Seal Rock and Fort Warren. Option: short, steep jaunt around Fort Revere.
Longer Option: From Allerton, see our Nantasket route for beach running and beachside/waterside roads on that section of the peninsula.
