Located in Brooklyn Heights, this route along the Brooklyn waterfront showcases views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. It is one of the best runs in New York. Begin heading towards the Hudson and run along the piers until you reach Brooklyn Bridge Park. Pass under the bridge and use New Dock St. to rejoin the waterfront park. Pass Jane’s Carousel and loop back towards the start. Take Everit St. and be prepared to tackle what the locals call Jehovah’s Hill. The trip is definitely worth it — at the top of the hill you will reach Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Made famous by cameo appearances in movies like Annie Hall and Moonstruck, it is one of the most romantic spots in New York City and offers breathtaking vistas. Finish with one more steep hill to loop back to the start. It’s possible to add to the run by going down a couple of the piers. It’s an easy 1/2 hour subway ride from Manhattan using the 2, 3, 4, 5, and R trains or the B61 and B63 buses. Note: there is continued work along the river paths of Brooklyn.
