A good running option in the upper Cape and a bit of a hidden gem. Monomoscoy Island is a bit away from the ocean along Waquoit Bay. A nice route is run along Red Brook Road and down across a causeway. The island is a mix of old cottages and newer lush homes. This finger of land has good water views on either side as you get toward the tip.
One can do a there and back, or for variety, in the return from Monomoscoy, take a left off Red Brook Rd. onto Ostrom Rd., and then a right on Meadowneck Rd., which turns into Metoxit Rd., back to Rt. 28.
Note: No sidewalks and narrow shoulder in parts.
Essentials
- 6.2 miles full loop. Monomoscoy Rd. itself is 1.7 miles to tip off Red Brook Rd.
- 98 feet for full loop
- Rt 28: Grill 500/Moonakis Cafe parking lot at Metoxit Rd.
- Park in those lots
