This route primarily features Lincoln Park, with a loop option incorporating the Lakefront Path. Chicago’s largest park is an urban classic, featuring open and wooded paths, passing a conservatory, zoo, museum, theater, and a pond. A full loop of Lincoln Park can be 3-4 miles, if the ~1 mile loop around North Pond across Fullerton Ave. is included.
Start in Lincoln Park, or, if desired, from the Northern Avenue Beach on the Lakefront Path. To make this a loop incorporating the Lakefront Path, use the Fullerton Ave. underpass at the northern end. Our mapped route includes a scenic, 1-mile out and back jaunt to the North Avenue Beach Pier (great views!).
Add-Ons: Many additional miles on the Lakefront Path. Also, the Lincoln Park neighborhood, just west of the park, is one of Chicago’s more affluent neighborhoods and is pleasant for running.
- 4.1 miles (6.6 km) for loop, including 1 mile out and back to North Avenue Beach Pier
- Flat
- In Lincoln Park. Access from Lakefront Path at Northern Avenue Beach or Fullerton Ave.
- Access Points to Lincoln Park from Lakefront Path: Northern Blvd./Beach, Fullerton Ave., Diversey Pkwy.
