There’s some wonderful running in Porthleven and Penrose. In Porthleven, there’s a nice run along the harbour and waterfront, including an easier section of S W Coast Path. At the east end, it connects to the extensive trails of the Penrose National Trust. Penrose is also the location of a Parkrun.
Porthleven Waterfront. Start in at the Harbour and run on the road alongside the western end of the harbour, continuing east onto Ocean View until it reaches the S W Coast Path (can continue if you like, or run west on Beacon Rd., which has nice views though no shoulder). Retrace your steps, and run the east side of the Harbour to Loe Bar Rd., where you’ll run along the water for 1.2 miles, including an easier, pretty section of S W Coast Path to The Loe lake. Retrace your steps to Porthleven or continue on the Penrose National Trust trails.
Penrose National Trust. A wonderful series of trails around a former estate and Cornwall’s largest lake. A combination of woodland tracks, stretches of coastline and open parkland. See the cycling information for some of the nice bridleways for running. Excellent information on the trails in this map. We especially love some of the parkland. Loe Bar Beach is also runnable, situationally.
