St. Ives: Waterfront to Carbis Bay

Max Pixel

There’s some nice running in St. Ives, a coastal town known for its beaches and art scene. The best place to run in St. Ives is the path around The Island and then south to Carbis Bay, a path/road above the water. Note: hilly!

Starting in central St. Ives, begin with the 0.5 mile loop around The Island to St. Ive’s Head. Fantastic views! Then, continue south, following a short section of S W Coast Path to the Pier, and run out to the Lighthouse. Then continue on Wharf Rd./Warren Rd. and the paved paths above rain line for ~2 miles to Carbis Bay, near the train station. Great views of St. Ives Bay! Here, retrace your steps back to St. Ives, or continue on the path down to Carbis Bay Beach — a wide, sandy beach that’s great for running (but short, ~1 km).

Add-Ons:  Enjoy running on some of the cobbled streets of St. Ives, especially when it’s quiet. Trail runners will enjoy S W Coast Path options around St. Ives. Information.  Just a few miles west, see our guide to the Hayle Beach/Godrevy/Portreath area.
