The Hennepin Canal State Trail is another good off-road path for running in the Davenport area. Located 5 miles south of Davenport in Rock Island and near the Quad Cities Airport, the dirt-surfaced multi-use trail runs for 4.7 miles between Ben Williamson Park and the Rock Island Conservation area. The trail follows the Hennepin Canal & Rock River, providing some views of the water and numerous locks.
One can start in Ben Williamson Park, though this involves crossing the River on the Rock Island/Milan Pkwy., which is a very busy road but does have a shoulder. Alternatively, the trail can be accessed off 3rd St. in Milan, with 3.7 miles on that side of the river.
