Eagle Marsh Nature Preserve & Towpath Trail

https://www.visitfortwayne.com/

Eagle Marsh is an 831-acre wetland nature preserve located on the southwest border of Fort Wayne. There are 14+ miles of trails around the varied habitats of shallow-water wetland, sedge meadow, prairie, mature forest and young trees…and 250 varieties of birds. So there’s a nice variety for running and lots of nice views!

There’s an excellent trail map with some suggested loop options, based in part on preferred length and type of habitat/terrain. Doing a sort of ‘perimeter’ loop would be 4-5 miles.

Add-Ons: The Towpath Trail runs along the northern section of the Preserve, and extends for another ~3 miles east to Covington Rd. The paved multi-use trail passes through several sports fields and parks. There’s also an access point off Smith Rd.
