In the northern part of Fort Wayne, one can stitch together a pleasant, mainly off-road run around the Fort Wayne campus of Purdue University, additional multi-use paths, and Shoaff Park. We’ve put together a route of up to 10 miles. Use it as a guideline for a distance of your choosing.
We start just south of Coliseum Blvd. so you can do a lap around the running track at Zollner Stadium. It’s just north of the northern end of the Rivergreenway St. Josephs section. Head north on the St. Joe Pathway, which turns into the IPFW Pathway, which skirts the western edge of campus along the river. The path ends after 1.6 miles. Retrace your steps along the path for 1.4 miles (or run on other campus paths), crossing the St Joe Pathway pedestrian bridge.
Shoaff Park. Google Street View
The next section is north along a gravel path through the Purdue athletic fields for ~2 miles, using St Joe Center Rd. to cross the bridge to access Shoaff Park, where you can do an additional ~2 mile loop around the park’s paths. Retrace your steps to the start.
Add-Ons: Rivergreenway path south from Johnny Appleseed Park towards Fort Wayne.
