Montrose is one of several lovely, centrally located residential neighborhoods we recommend for running in Houston. The neighborhood is known for bars, eclectic restaurants, indie shops & galleries, and nice views of the downtown skyline. There are numerous pleasant, tree-lined streets with an interesting mix of homes, from more modern architecture to older bungalows. There are numerous galleries and museums, and the Rothko Chapel. Some nice streets for running: Fairview, Waugh, Vermont and Avondale.
One can combine this neighborhood with the trails in Buffalo Bayou and Tinsley parks, about 1 mile north of central Montrose. Also, the River Oaks neighborhood, also wonderful for running, is just to the west.
