Best Houston Neighborhoods for Running

Paul Wasneski

We’ve created separate posts/routes for the Heights, 6th Ward Historic District, Montrose, and River Oaks neighborhoods, which are all wonderful for running. Some additional residential Houston neighborhoods that we love for running include:

Bellaire: Bellaire boasts some of the grandest homes in southwestern Houston. It’s a great option for a residential neighborhood run without the cookie-cutter features of the suburbs. It’s located just south of I-69 and the Galleria, and bisected by the I-610.

Boulevard Oaks: Just north of Rice University, runners can add on any of these pleasant residential streets for a look at some of Houston’s finest homes. Just west of Rice is the West University Place neighborhood, which features pretty homes and oak-lined streets.

Memorial Villages: The “Memorial Villages” sit on the west end of Houston and host all manner of magnificent homes. Runners won’t find many sidewalks here, but the short streets see only local traffic, so you can explore to your heart’s content!
