On the west side of Houston’s “Energy Corridor,” the suburb of Katy features some of the top-rated neighborhoods and lovely multi-use trails. See the Overview Map for specific locations.
Drainage Ditch Trail/Bayou Northside Trail: The Drainage Ditch Trail surrounding Willowfork Park delivers exactly what its name implies, but it’s a reliable 3 mile circuit with connections to longer runs along the Little Prong River.
Mason Creek Trail: Starting from Katy Park, the Mason Creek Hike and Bike Trail is a nice little 5k around a lake and parkland. The longer Mason Creek Trail continues southeast into George Bush Park.
Cinco Ranch II/Spring Lake: The Cinco Ranch II neighborhood is a large master-planned community, chock-full of put together homes, but runners won’t want to miss the fantastic 6 mile loop around Spring Lake – there are lots of add-on options! ROUTE MAP.
Cross Creek Ranch: Runners will find plenty of sidewalks near the upscale homes of Fulshear’s Cross Creek Ranch in addition to the meandering Lakeside Trail through town. A loop around the Creek Trail at Flewellen Creek Park, at the southern section of the neighborhood, is ~ 1 mile.
