We start with the 0.5 mile approach to the Mississippi State Capitol on N Congress St. Then, head east of State St. to explore the Bellhaven neighborhood. There are leafy residential streets and some pleasant small parks. LEFT on Madison, R on Fortification, L on Carlisle, R on Kenwood Pl., to Bellhaven Park. Pass the Eudora Welty House, and then take a jaunt through the small campus of Bellhaven University, which has a small but pleasant pedestrian trail. Use Peachtree-Pinehurst-Jefferson for the route back.
Add-Ons: Explore additional streets in the neighborhood, for example east of the university to I-55. It’s also 0.75 miles along Riverside Dr. to LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, where there are 2-3 miles of pleasant nature trails for running. The Eastover neighborhood north of the LeFleur’s Bluff is also pleasant for running.

In the northern part of Jackson, LeFleur's Bluff State Park is a lush green spot for a run. The 305-acre state park features 2-3 miles of nature trails. For more, explore the Bellhaven & Eastover neighborhoods.
In the Flowood area in northern Jackson, stitch together a decent run combining Flowood Nature Park, Winners Circle Park, & Flowood Nature Park, using the multi-use path connecting them. Good option near airport!
Some lovely waterfront running along the Ross R Barnett Reservoir in the Ridgeland part of Jackson. 10+ miles possible, which we've divided into sections. Includes a 1.5 mile causeway over the water!
This 10.5 mile paved multi-use path runs parallel to a section of the Natchez Trace Parkway that passes just north of Jackson. Pleasantly wooded and the best option for a long off-road run in the area.
A 32-acre preserve of native forest in Clinton, located 11 miles northwest of Jackson. There are 2.3 miles of pleasant, wooded nature trails. Add on with paths around Mississippi College, where there's also a running track.
