In the Flowood area in the northern part of Jackson, one can stitch together a decent run combining a couple of small parks, with a multi-use trail connecting them. It’s also the best option near the Jackson Airport.
The route starts in the Laurelwood neighborhood, where the Laurelwood Trail runs along a small lake for 1/2 mile. Continue east to Winners Circle Park & Flowood Nature Park — two small parks that have some paths, fields, and other recreational facilities. Then use the paved multi-use path that runs alongside Flowood Dr. for 1.5 miles to Flowood Liberty Park, which is another small park with some ballfields and a YMCA. In all, one can put together a 5-6 mile run combining the parks & connector path.
STAY: If you’re staying near the airport and want to go for a decent run, stay in one of the hotels just off Flowood Dr.
