The Greenway del Lago di Como is a popular walking/hiking trail that is also suitable for a not overly challenging trail run. The 11 km one-way trail follows sections of the old Roman roadAntica Strada Regina along the western shoreline of Lake Como between Colonno and Ca’ Bianca, passing through Sala Comacina, Tremezzina, Mezzegra, Tremezzo, Griante and numerous small towns. There are beautiful lake views, villas, gardens, and lovely architecture. Some sections are right along the shoreline and others on the hills just above the lake. There’s a mix of surface types and the footing is generally good. The path is well way-marked, with blue route markers and metal greenway signs in the ground.

One popular option is to run the route one-way, and take the C10 bus, which follows the main SS340 road. If you don’t want to drive to the trail, a ferry goes to Cadenabbia from numerous points.
