Como Sights and Views Tour

Wikimedia Commons: Rehman Abubakr

This is a scenic ‘highlights of Como’ tour, featuring the historic section of Como, waterfront paths and piers, and the grounds of historic estates (Villas). Use our mapped route as a guideline — it’s easy to modify this route for longer or shorter!

The first section is a ~2 km tour of the historic section of Como, which stretches from the water, inland to the Porta Torre. It’s a highly pedestrian area, with many small, narrow streets. We’ve used Via Armando Diaz and Via Odescalchi, which will take you by several museums, churches, and the the Basilica di San Fedele. Returning to the waterfront, run out and back on three adjacent piers, the most notable of which goes to the Life Electric sculpture. Take a jaunt around the grounds of Giardini del Tempio Voltiano, and then head northwest on the waterfront path to Villa Olmo, and enjoy a ~1 km tour of its spectacular grounds. Keep running along  the waterfront to Parco del Grumello, which is a good point to turn around and head back to Como on the waterfront path.

Add-Ons: Additional sections of the waterfront path (see our route there). The small roads above the water are also scenic, with great views. Best section is just off Villa Olmo, using Via Filippo Caronti and other small roads (note: hilly!)

Essentials
  • 9 km (5.5 miles)
  • 51m (168 feet)
