Rock Creek Trail

Geocaching.com

The Rock Creek Trail is somewhat of a hidden gem, but a great accessible trail from many hotels near the I-430/I-630 junction, west of central Little Rock. The out and back route is a flat and non-technical 3 mile out and back over paved and gravel terrain, with some fun boardwalks and bridges added in. It’s mainly wooded, and although the trail runs along Rock Creek, there aren’t much in the way of water views.

Runners can start either at the west end, near Loyola Drive, or at the east end off Bowman Road. There are also access points at the Chenal Lake Apartments and along the power lines behind the Home Depot.

Essentials
  • 3 miles (5 km) out and back
  • Flat
  • Loyola Drive or Bowman Road
  • Markham St. and Bowman Rd Bus Stop

This trail was closed due to damage from the tornado on 3/31/23, and no effort has been made to reopen it. Since it has been ignored, the area has been taken over by multiple homeless encampments, and unfortunately some, not all of them, but some of the unhoused individuals residing there are dangerous, and will threaten or attempt to harm you if you try to use this trail.
