Saratoga Springs has been a popular resort destination for 200 years, known for its mineral springs and home of the famed thoroughbred horse racing track and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Visitors will enjoy some wonderful places to run in Saratoga Springs. We’ve mapped a couple of routes in the downtown area, highlighting historic streets lined with Victorian-era homes and the campus of Skidmore College. Just south of downtown, there are scenic roads and trails in historic Saratoga Spa State Park. For off-road running, the Spring Run Trail and Bog Meadow Nature Trail are close to town. A must-do destination run is Saratoga National Historical Park, which has the park loop road and trails winding around historic battlefields. For a longer off-road run, head to the Zim Smith Trail or the nearby Ballston Veterans Path. Trail runners will love North Woods at Skidmore College and the 15 miles of trails at Moreau Lake State Park.
Note that Saratoga Springs is beautiful in all seasons, but is especially popular in summer and fall. Runners should be aware that winters in the area are cold and snowy, and should be prepared for winter running conditions.
