South Malta Historical Sites Tour

Wikimedia Commons

This is a terrific ‘runseeing’ tour of several historical sites at the southern end of Malta, also featuring some great coastal views. It’s nearly all on roads with good sidewalks.

Blue Grotto. Bengt Nyman

A good starting point is the parking lot near the Blue Wall and Grotto Viewpoint. Start with a short jaunt north on Triq Wied Iż-Żurrieq to a viewpoint, then back south to the Blue Grotto and Sciutu Tower (great views!). Retrace your steps, and then run back up the hill, and turn LEFT, heading west on Triq il-Wied for 2 km to Haġar Qim Park, where you’ll see several archeological sites, including the path to Ħaġar Qim, Mnajdra, and the Tal-Ħamrija Coastal Tower. Retrace your steps, but use Triq Hagar Qim to Triq taz-Zelliega for make the route a loop.
