Washington Secondary Bike Path

The Washington Secondary Bike Path is a paved commuter route through the Cranston and Warwick areas south of Providence. The 19-mile multi-use path mostly runs through commercial areas, but it does hit some lovely spots, especially on the south end.  We most prefer Miles 6-12 (see map), west of West Warwick to Coventry Center. The highlights are the bridges crossing the Pawtuxet River, the South Branch, and the Coventry Reservoir.

Essentials
  • Up to 19 miles one-way
  • 923 feet (281m) over 19 miles, headed west; Flat for first 9 miles, then steady climb west of W. Warwick
  • Nearest start to Providence is just west of Highway 10 in West Providence
  • Numerous access points & parking areas -- see trail map
