Features:
This is a pleasant run in Lakeside Marblehead, a peninsula jutting out to Lake Erie. It’s an easy 20-minute drive from Sandusky. There’s a cute downtown, a highlight of which is the lakeside Hoover Auditorium. For running, we suggest starting downtown, running through Bettinger Park out to the Lakeside Beach pier, and then east along Lakefront Dr. to Foundation Park. From there, continue east, using Prairie St. to connect to Rte. 163/E Bayshore Rd. There’s a particularly nice waterfront section, with a sidewalk, for 1 mile to Lake Point Park. Make sure to take the 0.1 jaunt out to the lighthouse! Here, turn around and retrace your steps for a 7-mile out and back option.
Loop/Longer Option: Instead of turning back at Lake Point Park, continue on E Bayshore Rd. (caution: no sidewalk) for 1 mile, and turn RIGHT on Alexander Pike (Rt. 142), and run for 1.8 miles along this a quiet road alongside the Lakeside Daisy State Nature Preserve.
- Out and Back: Up to 7 miles from downtown to Lake Point Park; Loop Option: 7.8 miles (12.5 km)
- 223 feet (68m)
- Downtown Lakeside Marblehead
- Parking downtown
